If the female in a man and woman couple could change her negative body image, I believe that there are a great number of couples, both young and old, that would participate in social nudism. This negative body image is fueled by everything a typical woman sees around her. As a simple example, the minikins in department store windows are always tall and thin. Likewise, billboard advertising, airport displays, magazine ads, subway posters, pictures in hair salons, photos on feminine products, etc. ALWAYS feature thin women.

Although everyone knows that a woman's body changes as she ages, the constant drum beat of "thin is in" is so pervasive in our culture that the typoical woman cannot help but compare her body to those featured in the media. And when she does compare, she loses every time. I believe this is how women in our society begin to form a negative body image.
